personal training

Research shows that exercising, and resistance training in particular (whether bodyweight or external weights), is a key factor in delaying ageing, fighting disease and staying strong and healthy longer. In 2004 at 40, I realised that my health had not been a priority and regular physical activity was something that had been absent from my life for too long and I retrained as a PT.

Give me a call if you want to start exercise. Or maybe you just want to get a health assessment and to talk about diet and how to develop better self-practices. I started this career because I battled with my own weight and fitness and this is something that I will continue working on for life. I understand how difficult it can be to start and keep going, that’s why my approach with clients is based on empathy and compassion. You will have my constant support on your personal journey.

When it comes to the health and age of our body it really is “use it or lose it” and the idea that we should do less as we get older is only true if you want to get old quickly. To have a long and happy health-span, not just a long medicated lifespan, requires a regular movement habit. I learned how to get back into that and became a personal trainer to help you do the same. I have a dedicated studio in Redbourn (St Albans) or I can come and help you in your home (Harpenden, St Albans, Redbourn and surrounding area). My approach to longevity and health-span planning encompasses more than just resistance training, as I use different modes of movement; so if the thought of using weights is too much, then I also offer yoga and qigong skills for you.

It’s best to start developing your own healthy habits before the onset of a major illness, though of course it’s still good to start if something has already occurred. Everything you do can make a difference, no matter how small. But don’t wait for too many warning signs, just get started. I’m here to help, especially if you are in your 40s, 50s, 60s or 70s.

My approach is to work out with you which approach might be the best start point and then encourage you to begin your practice. You can contact me via the WhatsApp button on this page of via the contact page for a free, no obligation conversation. Training happens in blocks and a pack of 10 one-hour sessions in my private studio costs £600 (I only work with individuals). There is a supplement for training at your home of £150 per pack of 10 to cover travel.
